Operating free economic zones of Armenia

Free economic zones (FEZs) of Armenia contribute to attracting investments in the state economy, and also open up new opportunities for developing your business in this country.

Free Economic Zone of Armenia — this is a special territory created with the participation of the government of the republic or on a private initiative, where doing business has the following advantages:

• preferential taxation, different from the standard system of taxes within the country;
• customs preferences for the export of goods, import of raw materials for the production of products;
• no income tax for legal entities;
• no income taxes for entrepreneurs who are organizers or leaders of the free economic zone of Armenia;
• no restrictions on currency conversion — if there are settlements in the rest of the country.

FEZ "Alliance"

By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 785-Ն dated July 18, 2013, in the territories of CJSC "RAO MARS" and CJSC "YerNIIMM" the free economic zone "Alliance" was created. "SITRONICS ARMENIA" CJSC was recognized as the organizer of the above free economic zone. Start of the free economic zone «Alliance» was given on August 1, 2013.

Free economic zone "Alliance" focused on the production and export of high and innovative technologies — in the fields of electronics, precision engineering, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, information technology, alternative energy, industrial design and telecommunications (design and production of technological equipment, systems and materials for data / information transmission), as well as in the production of products not manufactured in the territory of the Republic of Armenia .

On August 14, 2013, the Government of the Republic of Armenia, represented by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia (currently the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia), and CJSC "SITRONICS ARMENIA" concluded an agreement on the organization of a free economic zone created on the territory of ZAO RAO MARS; and CJSC "YerNIIMM".

Validity period of the free economic zone — 10 years old.

FEZ "Meridian"

By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 231-Ա dated February 27, 2014, on the territory of CJSC «MERIDIAN HOLDING» the free economic zone "Meridian" was created. CJSC "Free Economic Zone" Meridian "" is recognized as the organizer of the above free economic zone. Start of the free economic zone "Meridian" was given on May 12, 2015.

The type of functioning of the free economic zone is set as production and industrial — in the fields of goldsmithing, jewelry and watchmaking.

April 4, 2014, the Government of the Republic of Armenia, represented by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia (currently the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia), and CJSC "Free Economic Zone" Meridian "" signed an agreement on the organization of a free economic zone.

Validity period of the free economic zone — 10 years old.

FEZ "Meghri"

By Decree of the Government of the Republic of Armenia No. 1595-Ն dated December 7, 2017, the free economic zone "Meghri" was established in the Meghri community of the Syunik Marz of the Republic of Armenia. The organizer of the above free economic zone is CJSC "Free Economic Zone" Meghri ". Start of the free economic zone "Meghri" was given on December 15, 2017.

Type of functioning of the free economic zone "Meghri" installed as a production, industrial and logistics — in the fields of agriculture, processing industry, trade, electricity supply, transportation and storage, specialized and technical activities, culture, tourism, entertainment and recreation.

December 15, 2017, the Government of the Republic of Armenia, represented by the Ministry of Economic Development and Investments of the Republic of Armenia, and CJSC "Free Economic Zone" Meghri "" signed an agreement on the organization of a free economic zone.

Term of operation of the free economic zone — 50 years old.

FEZ "Ecos" for IT

Ecos Free Economic Zone of Armenia in the city of Hrazdan is located 50 km from Yerevan in the Kotayk region. This is the youngest FEZ in the country (approved by the Armenian government in 2018), focused on the introduction of innovations and the development of high technologies.

The organizer of the Armenian FEZ — ECOS company, which creates a unique infrastructure with a special system in the free territory.

Ecos Free Economic Zone of Armenia – this:

• the possibility of implementing educational and communication projects
• research labs and electronic platforms
• data centers and industrial production
• venture fund
• acceleration programs
• Informational and educational forum for the Armenian Blockchain Forum

In fact, the SEZ "Ekos" has all the necessary infrastructure for the development of IT companies based on blockchain technologies. In the plans of the operator — investing 4 billion US dollars in the overall development of the free economic zone of Armenia "Ecos", as well as attracting foreign investment in the amount of 15 million US dollars. It is planned that by 2043, 200 companies will be registered on the territory of the FEZ to produce goods and services for export.
